Canada: The Québécois journaux jaunes (yellow papers): the example of L’Oeil en coulisse

L’Oeil en coulisse was one of the journaux jaunes published in Quebec from the late 1940s through the early 1960s.  This issue, reproduced in its entirety, contains no information on its publication beyond a subscription form giving its address as “1285 Visitation, Montréal.”  An inside advertisement indicates that the publisher was also responsible for Le Monde Sportif, described as “Le plus grand hebdomadaire sportif français d’Amérique”.  André Lecompte, author of the article whose title is featured on the cover, was a journalist and art critic who wrote, in the 1940s, for Le Petit Journal.
