In 1946, rights to the title Détective were sold to the French Beyler group, who published it as Qui? Détective until 1958. In this and other galleries, we will present covers of the various incarnations of Détective as it changed title and style several times from the end of World War II until the present day. This gallery begins with issues of Qui? Détective from 1950, when it combined human interest stories, coverage of various royal families, articles on sport and, of course, reports on crime of all kinds. The brown paper and photographic styles of Qui? Détective bear affinities with Mexican crime magazines of the period, like Prensa Roja and the Magazine de Policia. More images of Détective, Qui? Détective, and Le Nouveau Détective will be posted as we continue to scan our collection.
