In 1946, rights to the title Détective were sold to the French Beyler group, who published it as Qui? Détective until 1958.  In this and other galleries, we will present covers of the various incarnations of Détective as it changed title and style several times from the end of World War II until the present day.  This gallery features issues of Qui? Détective from 1957.  One of the striking features of this year’s covers is their almost exclusive domination by portraits — by people asking us to judge them, by others condemned, by the victimized.  Because the back covers of Qui? Détective featured panel cartoons rather than photographs, we have not included them.
