The New York Sunday News was the Sunday edition of the New York Daily News, which began publication 1919 and continues through the present day. Throughout much of its life, it was known as “New York’s Picture Newspaper”. This small gallery of issues from the late 1930s and early 1940s is intended to show the typical layout of the newspaper’s front and back covers. Headlines often had nothing to do with the photographs, which referred to stories inside. The back covers are at the end of this gallery.
